Planned “Cloud Lab” to provide exceptional opportunity to MSAS students
MSAS students already receive unparalleled training on state-of-the art laboratory automation equipment. This includes a state-of-the-art automated science laboratory
dedicated to the program. Beginning next academic year, MSAS training will include the opportunity to use the first university-based Cloud Lab first university-based Cloud Lab that will be created by Carnegie Mellon and expected to open in Fall 2022. It will provide the ability to do a wide range of experiments in a fully remote manner, analogous to the way that cloud computing resources are used. MSAS coursework prepares students for this exciting new frontier that combines machine learning to build predictive models of biomedical problems and artificial intelligence to choose new experiments to efficiently improve those models.
