Dr. Murphy to Give Talk on Automated Science at AAAS Meeting

Automated instruments have revolutionized biomedical research, but the choice of experiments to be done is still made by scientists. At the AAAS 2019 Annual Meeting, Dr. Murphy will talk about the challenges of scale for constructing predictive models for complex biological systems and his group’s work on using automated systems in which experiments are chosen by computer to produce accurate models of drug effects while doing only a fraction of possible experiments. He will also talk about the need for training scientists in this new paradigm to design and build “self-driving instruments” – the subject of our new M.S. program!
